Cariad Fflur

Russian Burmese Dumbo

13/01/07 - 11/11/07

Having only just said goodbye to Teagan, I had to let another extremely special girl go shortly afterwards . Poor Fflur had a prolapse a week previous, and had emergency surgery to replace it, sadly she prolapsed again today, and this time it was too inflamed to do anything about, other than end the pain for her. She was only 16 months old, and I'm totally devastated. She was the first Cariad Rat keeper I've had to say goodbye to and my heart was broken.

Fflur was born in June 2006, to proud parents Ffion and Harry. I instantly fell in love with her gorgeous Russian Burmese colour and typical in your face personality. She's always been a little tart, and desperate for attention.

Fflur was the rat who finally got Russian Burmese standardised at NFRS shows, after I showed her off to Ann at last years AGM

She had a wonderful litter of 11 kittens earlier this year, of which I kept Sheela Na Gig and Valerian, who is almost like a clone of her mum, in both looks and temperament. She was a great, if slightly grumpy mum, and the whole litter were little stunners.

It's such a shock to lose her like this...she was doing so well after her operation last week, and she'd only just gone back in with her friends after a few days in a hospital cage with lots of cuddles. I'll miss her to bits.

Sleep well, beautiful. I'm so sorry...

Tears In Heaven

by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way
Through night and day,
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.

Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.
