Charlie was a
gorgeous Cinnamon Berkshire, Julie O GMR-ed me with her and her
friend Molly (different litter, same birthday) in Spring 2004. She
was named after Charlie Dimmock, another ginger minx!!
The two cheeky madams soon settled well into my group, and were
happy, confident girls from the word go...always one of the bolder
members of my group, Charlie would always be one of the first at the
cage door.
Charlie was also a regular at many shows, and did well in the pet
classes, she won best pet doe at Clevedon last year.
She had no health problems at all throughout her life, until she got
her first lump around Christmas '05, the lump was a slow grower, and
I decided to have it removed just before her 2nd birthday. In true
feisty Charlie style, she began to chew her stitches as soon as we
got her home, so she had to wear an attractive purple boobtube made
of vetwrap until she'd healed.
Sadly, over the following summer, 4 new lumps appeared, and as her
back legs were starting to go as well, I made the decision not to
operate this time. She coped amazingly well with her lumps, still
climbing the bars until last week, when she just looked old and
tired, and her biggest lump had started to ulcerate. I finally let
her go at the grand age of 2 years and 7 months, and it really felt
like the end of an era.
Sleep well old girl...I'll miss you loads.
Cinnamon Girl by Neil Young :*)
I wanna live
with a cinnamon girl
I could be happy
the rest of my life
With a cinnamon girl.
A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together,
chasing the moonlight,
My cinnamon girl.
Ten silver saxes,
a bass with a bow
The drummer relaxes
and waits between shows
For his cinnamon girl.
A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together,
chasing the moonlight,
My cinnamon girl. |
