My name is Nicola Broadbridge, and I live in
Carmarthenshire, West Wales. I've been keeping rats since
1997, when I bought an agouti hooded buck from a pet shop
who I named Merlin. He was such a lovely little lad, and I
was surprised and amazed by how intelligent and affectionate
he was. These early days with Merlin completely sparked off
my love for rats, and I now have many of the little fuzzies,
and became a breeder in 2005. Cariad is the Welsh word for
love, which I have chosen as a very appropriate name to
identify any rats from a litter I have bred. Cariad Rats is
not a registered NFRS stud name, though it is a registered
NFRS novice rattery.
I am also a member of the
NFRS
committee, with the role of Cup Secretary. I also
recently qualified as an NFRS Show Judge.
I do not practice culling, and never will.
I breed for British Blue and British Blue Agouti and related
varieties in top ear, standard coat, and Burmese and Russian
Blue Burmese in Dumbo and top eared.
I would like to thank Estelle Sandford
of
Alpha Centauri Stud
for mentoring me throughout my initial litters.
